My apprenticeship teacher is susan . I get to learn about the different types of cancer and what the other workers do. I get to go to her work wich is in oncology. I chose this apprenticeship because I have wanted to be a doctor since I was very little.

My Apprenticeship - Fashion Design for Dolls

The apprenticeship that Spark gave me was a fashion-designing job for dolls. Who knew that there was a job for that? This apprenticeship is at a toy company called Spin Master I work with Amy and Jamie, they work in the fashion design department for the Liv Dolls. But now I’m working in the packing department to design a box for the doll. This experience really shows you how the real world works. I hope others can have an experience like this.

Spin Master -Toy Designer

In my apprenticeship I work with 4 different people, which is the whole crew in that section. I work with 1 person every two weeks. Their job is to design toys for young girls ages 6+. They are all very helpful.
Since I’m in the toymaker business I'm learning how to design toys and the whole process of designing it. It takes over a year to design a whole toy line. It is a very interesting apprenticeship.
For my apprenticeship I go to Spin Master. It takes us a few minutes to arrive there.
I go to spin master on Mondays and Wednesdays at 2 o’ clock.
I chose to go to Spin Master because I love to draw and color I chose to go to spin master.

My SPARK mentor is James who teaches me about Real Estate. I have learned many things with James including how to use a program called CoStar. It helps find the desired area that people are looking for. I also learned the names of what they do at the buildings that they sell such as residential, retail, and medical.

Activision

I am Peter and my apprenticeship is at Activision on Informational Technology (IT). My apprenticeship teacher is Rick, he is funny. What we do at Activision is that we fix computers, activate phones for employees, and software’s to employees. On some days I go around Activision and clean up computers from viruses if there are any. There are so many things I see but I can’t tell the information to no one I know because I signed a non-confidentiality contract. Activision people that work there mostly have Iphone4’s and Dell Computers, Activision has Dell Computers because they have a sort of deal with Activision. I go there to Activision every Wednesday at 1:00 to 4:00. I chose this because I love games and computers, and I’m good at them.

my apprenticeship - Day Care for Pets

My apprentice is at the Healthy Spot. It’s a daycare for pets but they specialize in dogs. My mentor is Lauren she is the best!!!! Lauren is so helpful and she answers all my questions. When I am there I usually help her take care of all the dogs by making sure that they don’t fight or do stuff they aren’t supposed to do. Sometimes we also go to grooming. I visit her on Wednesdays at the healthy spot.I go to the healthy spot to start my apprentiship. I picked this apprentiship because I love animals I think they are all so cute!!!!!!!!!!

My apprenticeship is with a register nurse. I am working with Lupita at the Westside Family Center. Lupita is a good, nice and helpful person she is teaching me about lead poisoning, and about vaccines. When I go to my apprenticeship on Wednesdays I go to the clinic and work with pediatrics and vaccines. The Westside Family Center is a very good place to learn about vaccines and a fun place to volunteer. I chose to work as a register nurse because my dream since I was a little girl was to work in the medical field.

Spin Master Apprentice

I am working with Brady and he is a board game designer. He is teaching and showing me how to make a board game, we are making our own game and its mainly about cannibal gorillas chasing you around the whole board game and trying to eat you because you’re a gorilla. We work on this game only once a week which is on Wednesday, and we always have to brainstorm and we always have to be looking at commercials to have some ideas.

We always start of by talking to each other about ideas we thought about through the weekend. Then we start getting blank paper, pencils, and markers to start brainstorming and sketching anything out about our game. Right now we are just sketching out the cannibal gorillas on the board game. We are doing this because Brady asked me if I wanted to make a board game and I said yes, so we just asked some of his friends to start helping us and brainstorming with us to make our new game.

Scott works at “IT Freeway” and he repairs computers and owns a business. He is also my apprentice teacher. When I go to Scott’s office, we begin by planning what we are going to work on. When we begin he tells me what is safe and what is not. I visit him every Wednesday. I chose this apprenticeship because since I was a little kid I liked computer and technology and I still do.

One of the things I want to explore more with my apprentices is how to shoot and edit video, so hopefully we can add much more video content to the Spark Blog. I think it would be really cool if students could shoot a video presentation of their Discovery Night presentation and put in on the blog so many more people can enjoy and learn from it.

Speaking of amazing video, Gizmodo just had a competition for best time lapse video and this amazing video won. I had no idea you could see anything like this from earth. I have got to go to Joshua Tree to check out this amazing splendor!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!
